Week 01: 05/07 - 05/13

Redone phone app to connect to BLE module, modified code to work as independent app, manual mode implemented & tested using LEDs. Each mode sends strings when selected.

25 hrs

Configure controller, motor driver, & motor to work together. Building frame for blinds, brainstorming. Creating code & testing whether motor/motor driver can move blinds.

18 hrs

Began working on code for both sensors in separate programs to ensure correct operation. Ordered additional parts & materials for testing and troubleshooting.

20 hrs

Assigned tasks to complete for next week and post to website as completed.

4 hrs

Week 02: 05/14 - 05/20

Wired Arduino & BLE module to LEDs for testing, sending time to board, custom mode nearly complete (cant delete timers yet), references updated.

19 hrs

Extensive testing with motor &coupling, created fixture for motor, bought & modified new coupling & performed extensive testing. Testing whether more torque is needed from motor.

16 hrs

Tested each sensor for correct operation using LED’s based on measured lux values. Began designing & prep for construction of sensor puck, that will communicate wirelessly to main board.

16 hrs

Researched Researched batteries for blinds & sensors, future in-person meetings to put everything together. What we have completed thus far.

3.5 hrs

Week 03: 05/21 - 05/27

Custom mode saves/edits all user start/stop times & blinds angle.Timer sorted by start time. Tested all functions of app through COM. Software flowchart for program is done.

28 hrs

Finishing the mechanical aspects of the project. Extensive testing of the motors power consumption. Troubleshooting/brainstorming for electrical aspects.

16 hrs

Assembled & began testing battery powered sensor puck. Troubleshooting system to ensure battery charges while system is running. Battery duration may need to be increased.

16 hrs

Exchange components for responsible parts. Looked over current design, setup of the blinds, motor placement, and how to change it. Bought another set of blinds to disassemble.

3 hrs

Week 04: 05/28 - 06/03

Fixed: flowchart, App diagram, updated data being sent to Arduino, started code for Arduino: time is updated on Arduino, modes, AUTO & CUSTOM are done.

26 hrs

Tested power bank to charge and discharge, got power supplied by solar panel to charge battery, got power from solar panel to the load.

18 hrs

Continued testing of battery powered system ensuring its powered while charging, and added bluetooth modules so the two systems can communicate.

20 hrs

Gone over time frame finishing code, aditing website, talk about ways to have constant power to main Arduino.

2.5 hrs

Week 05: 06/04 - 06/10

Data sent by App is parsed by MCU, all modes are identified by MCU, Custom mode is done: timers are parsed and cycle through timers.

25 hrs

Finished and tested all the electrical work for the main system.

12 hrs

Continued testing bluetooth modules, ensuring integrity of data being sent. Began researching ways to store data in case either circuit loses power.

14 hrs

Set up times to meet in person, which modes to test first with motor, plan on combining individual codes.

3 hrs

Week 06: 06/11 - 06/17

Combined parsed app data w/ motor to test manual/custom mode, fixed app chart, ordered extra parts needed.

14 hrs

Tested the manual mode with Vasyl, troubleshooted the system, and locked in half of the components into the housing.

20 hrs

Assembled and tested sensor modules with new components to power the system.  Battery capacity may need to be increased.

18 hrs

Met in-person to test manual/ custom mode. Manual mode motor function needs to be fixed, up/down only opens blinds. Custom mode is yet to be tested.

6 hrs

Week 07: 06-18 - 06/24

Modified code to turn ON/ OFF motor driver to prevent motor overheating. Tested Manual/ Custom mode with Jordan. Constructed blinds holder for independent testing.

24.5 hrs

Fixed the issue with the boost converter, charge controller, and systems high current issue. Locked everything in place, successfully tested manual and custom mode with Vasyl.

25 hrs

Tested data transmission between sensor modules over varying distances. Fixed data loss issue by sending data twice.

18 hrs

Two team meeting were used to test and troubleshoot the manual/ custom mode. Last team meeting discussion of sensor placement and final fitting of the project inside the blinds.

14 hrs

Week 08: 06/25 - 07/01

Coded/ installed: RTC module (time keeping), 2nd BLE device, used Zack’s code and wrote AUTO to main MCU.

30+ hrs

Tested and implemented a new solar panel, battery, and charge controller into the system.

12 hrs

Worked with V to adjust sensor code to implement Auto mode. Commenced Final testing of sensor modules 20 ft apart. Began writing final report

20 hrs

V and Jordan met up to discuss placements of componets in blinds, Vasyl and Zack worked on getting AUTO mode logic coded and room sensor to send key markers.

5 hrs

Week 09: 07/02 - 07/09

Soldered new terminals for arduino connections, rewired system, fixed: auto mode, layout of app. Tested blinds in window for 24hrs, used lux app to compensate sensors, worked on ch2 (software) of report.

34 hrs

Made an adjustable fixture for our outside light sensor. Met up with Vasyl to test auto mode, and worked on chapter 3 of the report.

20 hrs

Soldered and handed off components to V for full system testing, continued working on the report.
