Week 11: 04/02/2024 - 04/08/2024​

Group:

  • Formatting proposal report, making sure figure and table numbers are consistent for each chapter. Looked over the information individual chapters have and fixed small mistakes chapters 1, 3, 4.  

Jordan:

  • Finished chapters 1 and 4 of the report. Finished Table of contents and List of Tables in the report. 

Zach:

  • Began ordering parts to begin testing and finished Chapter 2 of the report

Vasyl:

  • Added controller module figure and intro for module, added figure for electromechanical module, added network mode figure, added power distribution figure modified phone app flowchart, finishing up Arduino software flowchart.

Week 10: 03/27/2024 - 04/01/2024​

Group:

  • Individually worked on different chapters of the project. Updated info on the website.

Jordan:

  • Finished Chapter 1, Abstract, and Acknowledgements, and Started Chapter 4.

Zach:

  • Worked on chapter 2 in report and updated the specification table

Vasyl:

  • Finished chapter 3 in the report, created modular block diagrams, uploaded to website, created outline of the project to make microcontroller flowchart. Updated monetary chart to include cost of blinds.

Week 9: 03/12/2024 - 03/26/2024

Group:

  • Add to website:  engineering specifications, time & effort, weekly meetings, progress log, proposed timeline. Started chapters 1-3 of the report, and start numbering references for each chapter.

Jordan: 

  • Re-work timeline and Gnatt Chart, started ch1 of report (nearly completed). 

Zach:

  • Worked on power and financial budgets and engineering specifications for project. Worked on preliminary research and questions for survey for report. Started Ch2 of report and put links corresponding to datasheets. 

Vasyl:

  • Added contact us on page, created online survey and sent it out to gather data. Started chapter 3 of the report and made edits to the report.

Week 8: 03/05/2024 - 03/11/2024

Group:

  • Add to website:  home page, time & effort, weekly meetings, progress log, engineering specifications, proposed timeline, discussed how each mode of blinds operation will work.

Jordan: 

  • Fixed engineering requirements / success criteria. Worked on the comparison table. Researched what “optimal” lighting conditions

Zach:

  • Worked on power and financial budgets for project and preliminary research for report. Worked on surveys to send out.

Vasyl:

  • Re-done the phone app user interaction of connecting to: Bluetooth, prompt user for time, and parts of custom mode. Completed software flowchart to the app and re-done the block diagram of the project.

Week 7: 02/28/2024 - 02/04/2024

Group:

  • Add to website:  home page, time & effort, weekly meetings, progress log, engineering specifications, proposed timeline

Jordan: 

  • Worked on engineering requirements / success criteria. Worked on creating a tentative schedule. Started learning software for rendering the project, using Vectary.

Zach:

  • Continued research of materials for Automatic blinds detection device. Worked on power budget for project

Vasyl:

  • Research/ purchase blinds and dimensions to use and look at how to attach motor to the blinds, purchased 2" faux wood blinds (23" W, 64' H). Research and start on Phone App. Organize information to upload to website.

Week 6: 02/20/2024 - 02/27/2024

Group:

  • Add to website:  research, time & effort, weekly meetings, progress log and research similar available products

Jordan: 

  • Researched windows, wooden blinds, solar panels to buy and comparison table.

Zach:

  • Research materials to use for Automatic blinds detection device. Continued research of an automatic blind/curtain system.

Vasyl:

  • Research on components needed, integration, and different blinds types / sizes. Created engineering specification table.

Week 5: 02/11/2024 - 02/19/2024

Group:

  • Updated website. Looked into different ideas and revisited some previous ideas. 

Jordan: 

  • Researched Different Ideas and continued research on hybrid power system

Zach:

  • Continued research on Piezoelectric and solar generation. Researched RFID Lock systems and Solar grills. Researched portable Heaters

Vasyl:

  • Research new ideas from previously done projects. Research automatic cat feeder.

Week 4: 01/30/2024 - 02/06/2024

Group:

  • Updated: weekly meeting, add page for further research for: color recognition device and automatic patio glass door, time and effort.

Jordan: 

  • Research: voltage requirements for color detection device, materials needed, and addressing specific questions from previous meeting.

Zach:

  • Research: color detection device and automated door system. 

Vasyl:

  • Research: components needed for automatic sliding door, motor to use, and make parameters for success.

  • Update: 3 more proposed ideas, weekly meeting, time and effort  progress log
